Eating for the badass body and performance you desire can sometimes be a pain, and downright inconvenient.

Tough shit! I’m not here to sympathize, make excuses, or tell you its OK to let that be a reason to stray off course. In fact, if that’s what you’re looking for, you need to keep the surfing the net for a different hand-holding blog post. I’m here to tell you to “saddle up” and make it happen! Overcome any and every obstacle in your path. Control your own destiny!

OK, enough inspiration for today. Let’s look at some ways to add convenience and variety into your boring daily meals. Protein powders and shakes are an extremely convenient way to get a great meal on the go, fill you up, cool you down on these 100 degree days, and even satisfy a sweet tooth. Here are 3 protein shake recipes, I guarantee you haven’t tried!

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with juicing and trying to incorporate EVEN MORE fruits and vegetables into my “diet”. All 3 of these shakes are packed with vegetables, some fruit, and of course protein.

“Green Acres”

(Stole the name from a juice blend at Roanoke Co-op!)

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Parsley
  • Celery
  • Strawberry/Banana Whey Protein
  • Raw Pecan Butter
**No Water, the liquid here is 100% Vegetable Juice! Take that V8!

The Hulk Shake

  • 1 Frozen banana
  • Spinach
  • Water
  • Strawberry/Banana OR Vanilla Whey
  • Dash of cinnamon
If you need or want extra calories, you can add oats for extra carbs, or cocoa nibs, shredded coconut, or almond butter for healthy fats.

The U

(It’s green & orange with a coconut twist – The Rock, Ed Reed, and Ray Lewis would approve!)
  • Spinach
  • 1-2 Oranges
  • Vanilla Protein
  • 1/4 C unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1tsp or packet Stevia
  • Ice
  • LITTLE Water (the orange will provide plenty of liquid)

Don’t let the color or the ingredients scare you. Truth is, you can’t even taste the spinach, and the sweetness of the fruits and protein powders make these taste awesome! They’re packed with vitamins and minerals and energize your body with the best that nature has to offer. You’ll feel light, refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the world.
