What you eat around your training sessions may be the most important meals of your day. The post-lift meal is a window of opportunity for building muscle and burning body fat. Truth is, the whole before/during/after workout time period is a golden opportunity for you to significantly increase the results you get from your efforts.

In this post, we’re going to focus on the POST-LIFTING period. And I’m going to share with you one of my favorite post-lift protein shakes.

Strawberry Shortcake

2 Scoops Strawberry Protein (whey/casein blend makes a thicker better tasting shake)

4 crushed gluten-free shortbread cookies (20-40g carbs depending on your needs)

1 C strawberries

2-3 drops Vanilla extract

Ice & water

Combine ingredients in a blender and mix. Enjoy!

After a tough training session, your body will soak up nutrients like a sponge. It will handle carbohydrates better at this time than any other time. And you actually want carbs like rice or potatoes that are digested quickly and easily stored in the muscles as glycogen. Sometimes, however, it’s nice to eat some cookies!
